Wilhelm von Gloeden de Roger Peyrefitte À 22 ans, Wilhelm von Gloeden se rend en Sicile pour s’y refaire une santé. Fasciné par la beauté des jeunes garçons de Taormina, il se lance dans la photographie. Les clichés d’éphèbes du baron rencontrent immédiatement un vif succès. Ils sont exposés dans de célèbres galeries et reproduits par des magazines renommés. On apprécie ses compositions qui rappellent l’Antiquité. Roger Peyrefitte, à qui l’on doit tant sur le plan de l’évolution des moeurs au XXe siècle, admire profondément l'oeuvre de Gloeden. Il devient le plus célèbre collectionneur de ses photographies. At the age of 22, Wilhelm von Gloeden went to Sicily to restore his health. Fascinated by the beauty of the young boys of Taormina, he took up photography. The Baron's photos of young people immediately met with great success. They are exhibited in famous galleries and reproduced by renowned magazines. We appreciate his compositions which recall Antiquity. Roger Peyrefitte, to whom we owe so much in terms of the evolution of morals in the 20th century, deeply admires Gloeden's work. He became the most famous collector of his photographs. With this biography, written during a stay in Taormina, he pays him the most beautiful tribute that the baron has ever received. Most of the photographs contained in the fifty-page notebook come from the Roger Peyrefitte collection.
