How Magnus Carlsen Became the Youngest Chess ...(2004) - Simon - 03-15-2026

Carlsen became a chess Grandmaster at 13 years old; a remarkable achievement. This book doesn't lend itself to ebook conversion because of the large number of diagrams and notated games, although there are many far more skilled than I who might be able to. For this reason i've presented it here as a .pdf.

it does have a few pages of images, some of which I've reproduced here. It's more of a chess book than a boy book, but there's enough boy to make it interesting. Not that the chess isn't interesting, but - oh you know what I mean!

Moving story about a thirteen year old Norwegian boy, told by his chess trainer (former Norwegian chess champion and soccer international Simen Agdestein). Inspiring games, instructive comments, and a captivating insight in the family life of a child prodigy. Many pictures After holding Garry Kasparov to a draw, Magnus Carlsen lost a further game against the world number one player. The thirteen year old boy afterwards commented: "I played like a child." This book will fascinate parents and help gifted children to realize their full potential.
